Types of Custom Aluminum Panels

Here is how we actually run a custom job, in five steps. Skip one and you usually pay for it later.
- Define the application before you pick a panel. Interior ceilings, exterior walls, decorative screens, and service-access panels carry different safety, durability, and attachment requirements. When a brief arrives that only says “nice ceiling,” that is where we start asking questions.
- Send a complete design brief. Include drawings or sketches, panel dimensions, finish direction, perforation or cut pattern, edge returns, mounting intent, quantity, site conditions, and delivery constraints. The more specific the brief, the fewer surprises at sample stage.
- Review the fabrication drawing. We check panel orientation, joint locations, cutouts, edge folds, access needs, adjacent materials, and the visible face before release. A change on the drawing costs nothing; a change after cutting costs real money.
- Approve a sample where appearance is critical. Aluminum finishes shift with alloy, temper, texture, coating, viewing angle, and lighting. An approved reference sample keeps everyone honest.
- Inspect before and after installation. Confirm quantity, finish, panel orientation, joint alignment, protective-film removal, and handover condition. Photographs are cheap insurance.
Advantages and Limitations

Care and Maintenance
Custom aluminum panels are maintained as part of the surrounding system. A practical maintenance plan names the finish, the cleaning method, inspection access, compatible products, and who checks drainage, fasteners, gaskets, seams, or backing materials where relevant.
- Follow the panel and finish manufacturer’s written cleaning guidance first. Where permitted, start with clean water or a mild cleaner and rinse thoroughly.
- Test a cleaning method in a discreet location before using it widely. Harsh acidic or alkaline cleaners can attack an anodized finish.
- Inspect custom aluminum panels for staining, corrosion, loose attachments, damage at cut edges, blocked drainage, and changes around penetrations and adjacent materials.
- Keep approved samples, finish designations, drawings, cleaning records, and replacement-part information with the project closeout documents.
